New Business Spotlight

The East Hampton Economic Development Commission is committed to recognizing new businesses that start in or move to East Hampton. The commission will recognize one new business per month, as circumstances allow. The recognition is presented to a town-registered business that contributes to one or more of the following areas: community involvement, economic growth, professional relationships between businesses, or greater availability of services.

Submission Process for Recognition:

Submission to recognize a new business can be made by any resident and business owners may submit themselves. This recognition is available only to East Hampton businesses. All nominations must be submitted on the New Business Spotlight submission form. All verified submissions will remain up for consideration for three months from the date of submission.

Eligibility Criteria:

The submitted town-registered business should be in operation for less than one year. Businesses that have surpassed their one-year anniversary are encouraged to consider the Business of the Month award.

Submitted business should also contribute to one or more of the following areas:

• Community involvement
• Economic growth
• Professional relationships between businesses
• Greater availability of services

Recognition Will Include:

• An article/ photo in the Rivereast weekly newspaper subject to approval, availability and editing by Rivereast staff
• New Business sign in front of business for one month
• A recognition and promotion social post on the commission’s Facebook page

Selection Process: 

Deadline for submissions is the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Submissions will be verified as local businesses by the Town Manager and/or EDC Commission members. Standard verification includes town business registration, evidence of business tax payments, etc. New Business Spotlight is decided by a Commission vote with a majority vote approving the New Business Spotlight recognition. The submission form is available electronically below, at the link above or by contacting the Town Manager's Office or any EDC Member for a hard copy of the form. Please apply online or deliver a hard copy of the nomination form to the Town Manager’s Office or bring to the EDC Monthly meeting held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 at the Town Hall. .
