FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
East Hampton COVID-19 Self-Test Kit and Mask Distribution Saturday
East Hampton, CT, January 7, 2022 – The Town has received a new delivery of test kits and masks that will be distributed to the public at East Hampton High School on Saturday, January 8 beginning 10am and continuing to 3pm or as supplies last. The Town will distribute about 550 self-test kits and about 35,000 masks to Town residents via drive through at the High School, 15 North Maple Street. As with previous distributions, residents will be asked to show proof of residency and signs at the site will direct drivers to the pick-up location. Only one person per household needs to come to the kit distribution site.
No vehicles will be allowed to line up on the High School property or in the neighborhood prior to 9am.
The target for this limited distribution of test kits includes:
Those experiencing symptoms of COVID
Those with an exposure to a known case of COVID-19
Those who are expecting to gather indoors with a number of unrelated people whose COVID status is unknown
who are not able to access other testing resources.
Due to the limited number of kits available, distribution is restricted to one per household member up to two per vehicle. Masks, which are adult size N95 masks, will be distributed based on three masks per adult in the household and are available to anyone who desires them.
A pamphlet regarding use and fit of the N95 masks is available here.
This is part of a statewide effort to stem the current surge of COVID-19 cases. The latest State DPH information shows that East Hampton is experiencing very high case rates of over 98 cases per 100,000 population equivalent or over 12 new cases of COVID reported every day. These figures do not include information on self-test kit results. Currently, about 76% of the community has initiated vaccines and about 70% of the community is fully vaccinated.
Please take steps to protect yourself and others including the masks, distancing and vaccination.
