Traffic Patrols are responsible for the enforcement of state and local traffic laws, traffic accident investigation and traffic control within East Hampton. Traffic patrols perform DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and seatbelt checkpoints, analyze traffic patterns and conduct selective traffic enforcement details as required.

Through the use of DUI/Safety checkpoints, focused traffic enforcement details and radar surveys, officers address high volume traffic issues and traffic-related problems that negatively impact the community.

Traffic Patrols monitor compliance with Alcohol Beverage Control laws utilizing a three-pronged approach. These approaches include education, awareness and enforcement. Press releases are provided to local media and information about Alcohol Beverage Control violations is provided to the public. Undercover investigations of alcohol beverage licensed establishments are conducted to ensure compliance.
