Duties and Responsibilities
The Office of the Collector of Revenue is responsible for the annual billing and collection of real estate, motor vehicle and personal property taxes; as well as the annual billing and collection of sewer use fees. It is the Office’s mission to provide excellent customer service to the taxpayers of the Town.
On June 13th, 2017, the Board of Finance approved a mill rate of 31.32. Without estimated state assistance of $7,933,661 the mill rate would be 38.50.
Please note that the amount of revenue from the State of Connecticut indicated on your tax bill is subject to change since the state budget has not been adopted at the time your tax bill was printed.~
The Board of Finance already adjusted the mill rate in anticipation of further reductions in state funding in an effort to eliminate the need to send out a supplemental tax bill once the state budget is adopted.~~
We know the legislature’s and Governor’s failure to adopt a budget prior to our fiscal year starting is a major inconvenience for local taxpayers and we are doing everything in our power to impress upon them to complete their work.~ If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office.~ ~~
