Duties and Responsibilities
The Office of the Collector of Revenue is responsible for the annual billing and collection of real estate, motor vehicle and personal property taxes; as well as the collection of sewer use fees. The Office initiates all enforcement procedures within the General State Statute guidelines in the pursuit of the collection of delinquent taxes including but not limited to demand notices, tax warrants, tax sales, foreclosures and bank executions. It is the Office’s mission to provide excellent customer service to the taxpayers of the Town.
On June 12, 2018 the Board of Finance approved a temporary mill rate of 31.32. Without estimated state assistance of $7,692,297 the mill rate would be 38.19.
The Town of East Hampton does not have an approved budget for the 2018/2019 fiscal year. Therefore, at this time you are receiving the first installment of your tax bill based on a temporary mill rate of 31.32
You may pay your bill online by clicking on the link that reads Tax Payments on the home page. All online payments will incur a convenience fee. Convenience fees are non-refundable as they are charged by the service provider. The Town of East Hampton receives only your tax payment amount. The convenience fee is automatically calculated and is shown on the payment page before you submit your payment for processing. There is a 3% charge for using a credit card, a $3.95 charge for using a debit card and a .50 cent charge for using an ACH payment. We do not take credit or debit cards in the office or over the phone. Also, you may mail your payment to Town of East Hampton, Collector of Revenue, 20 East High Street, East Hampton, CT 06424. If
you would like a receipt please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Motor Vehicle Clearance
To obtain an immediate motor vehicle clearance you need to pay in cash, money order or bank check in the office. All other methods of payment will take 10 business days to process including online payments.
