Ethics Commission Special Meeting
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 – 6:30pm
East Hampton Middle School Library/Media Center

Minutes

Present:  Chairman James Scroggins, Mary Carter, John McBrearty, Mila Smith, Attorney Jean D’Aquila, Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois and Respondent to Ethics Complaint 2008-2.

Not Present:  David Gizewicz

Call to order and Pledge of Allegiance:  Chairman Scroggins called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  All stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.  

A motion was made by Ms. Carter, seconded by Mr. Scroggins, to seat Mr. McBrearty and Ms. Smith to fill the open seats for this meeting.  Voted (2-0).

Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made by Ms. Carter, seconded by Ms. Smith, to approve the September 4, 2008 Regular Meeting minutes as written.  Voted (4-0).

Executive Session:
Ethics Complaint 2008-2
A motion was made by Mr. Scroggins, seconded by Ms. Carter to enter Executive Session at 6:35 p.m.  Voted (4-0).  Attorney D’Aquila, Ms. Sirois and the respondent to Ethics Complaint 2008-2 were also present in Executive Session.

The Commission exited Executive Session at 8:20 p.m.

Other Business to Consider:  
Mr. Scroggins, Ms. Carter, Ms. Smith and Mr. McBrearty turned in the documents to Ethics Complaint 2008-2 to Ms. Sirois for shredding. (Note:  Ms. Smith delivered her documents to the Town Hall to Ms. Sirois to be shredded).

There was discussion regarding a possible change to the meeting dates for next year.  Also, the November meeting will be changed to the second week in November.

Adjournment:  
A motion was made by Mr. McBrearty, seconded by Ms. Carter, to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m.
