Birth Certificates
NEW FEES EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2009
A copy of your birth certificate is on file in the Town Clerk’s office in the Town in which your mother lived at the time of your birth and in the town in which you were born. A certified copy of a full-sized birth certificate is $20.00 and a wallet sized birth certificate is $15.00 per copy.
Birth certificates are closed to the public in Connecticut and are available only to the individual or his/her parent, grandparent or guardian.
In order to obtain a copy of a birth certificate, the requester must complete a request form and provide a photocopy of either a driver’s license or photo I.D. You may obtain a certified copy of a birth certificate either in person or through the mail. The Town Clerk’s Office is located at 20 East High Street, East Hampton, CT 06424.
To request a certified copy of a birth certificate through the mail, please print out a request for birth certificate and follow the instructions listed on the form. Please indicate whether you wish to receive a full sized or wallet sized birth certificate.
